"England 0-2 Croatia @ 15 mins" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2008-12-05 14:22:04

The drama is over. England is finally eliminated at Wembley of all places. England lost 2-3 after being down 0-2 in just under 15 mins. Lampard took the responsibility showed his composure as he scored a cool penalty. Croatia were deserved winners but to be fair. England did deserve a point. Euro 2008 will go ahead without one of the football ‘powerhouses’. It’s very difficult to accept the fact that England won’t be playing in Euro 2008 but it’s official now. It was not because England could not forbid defeat to Croatia. It was more because they dropped points all along. There will be more and more discussions now on foreign players quota systems youth talent etc. All said it’s a compel that England won’t be there in Euro 2008. From a Chelsea perspective about half of our first choice aggroup can rest (less injuries?) in pass and come back fresh for the next season. For the number of matches played by the English Chelsea players not playing the Euro could be of some help how much ever they dislike to watch Euro on TV. McClaren might count his days or hours. Are we going to see the return of Jose?_________________________________________Excitement is rising day by day as super bowl 2008 is approaching. However in the mean time US Open golf champion ship is going to held as well. People are rushing for the packages on both the places. However golfers can schedule package at Arizona as well. For the people crazy about golf it is the best measure to celebrate the mega event and enjoy a play holiday as well. However as Christmas is approaching people are getting crazy for snow shoeing and hence booking resorts as well. England :1. Tactics : wrong & one dimensional and with no real acumen2. aggroup spirit : lacking3. Leadership on pitch : the bare minimum4. Efforts ; disjointed5. Imagination : nil6. Confidence : ragged7. Backup and youngsters coming up : LOL8. Luck : LOL LOL LOL how much u want boys ? Andorra to defeat Russia ?9. The manager : feel sorry for actually ( I know this cos I stayed up the whole night to see what turned out to be a sorry performance ) I dont whats in there to get shocked. England always plays poor football. I often repeat this statement ” England in Football is exactly desire India in Cricket. A team full of stars but not a star aggroup. What it looks on paper is not what they play on the field” | | | | | | | | | England not making it to the Euro’s is a bit of a disappointment but what angers me more is the hype that Guus will get. He’s not as great as everyone said he was. He’s always had good squads to start off with and when he didn’t they went no where. His tactics are bland and predictable. *run around for 89 minutes then act a shot* I’ve seen it all too much. Russia are lucky to have qualified. | | | | | | | | | In the world cup he managed to get us the displace against croatia on neutral ground. Mclaren and england couldn’t change surface manage that on domiciliate turf. right on torohi and dnt forget u guys almost got past the reigning champs Italy at the world cup jst to be heart broken by another decision by the ref his tactics were spot on hah England can only dream of such tactics and smarts to take S. Korea to the semifinals man this guy has done it all with which good squads?? Mr. Michael gratify cm bak to football………. lol!!! And England are nothin but a joke…………. i predicted it before it happened they r just an overrated band of silly boys adulated to hero status after having a couple of good games……………….. | | | | | | | | | Oh come on. We were playing against a side 1 man drink. We never had any real chance of goal against Italy. We should’ve dominated but we didn’t. And why? because Guus was waiting for the last minute to sub Aloisi again. He used his luck with impact strikers one too many times. | | | | | | | | | joeblue we all predicted that england would not make it it was all so obvious i also predicted that russia would make it albeit being very lucky guus is a good coach but he is not as good as you make him to be. He has been coaching for more than 20 years. He has not won the league outside Holland. He was a failure at Real Madrid and Valencia. He was sacked by madrid after few months from appointment. Interestingly he is now a cautious manager who emphasises more on defence than contend. He did well with the national teams so late in his career after he was 55. South Korea were helped by the referees and good fortune so much for their ascent to semi finals in the world cup at home. Either we should believe this luck calculate everywhere or not discuss about it everywhere. He ordain not take up any club jobs because he know he cannot handle it. He would be a failure at any club. He should continue with and best suited for national teams only. | | | | | | | | | That was awful to check. Gerrard was absolutely trash. I have never seen him so badly in such a big be. Lampard was better but not great no one was great. Carson was rotten the first goal he allowed could have been stopped by a ten year old. Injuries certainly played a big part but the 11th ranked team in the world (at the time) has to be more than two strikers deep. It was pathetic. | | | | | | | | | <a href="" title=""> <abbr call=""> <acronym title=""> <b> <blockquote cite=""> <cite> <code> <del datetime=""> <em> <i> <q have in mind=""> <strike> <strong>

"Two champions, only one winner" posted by ~Ray

Someone is really going to undergo to put a stop to the Warne-Murali debate. It’s doing my head in. It’s not that I don’t enjoy a spot of abstract hypothetical cricketing bait. My teens consisted of little else in fact. It’s just that this consider is – or should be – so thoroughly redundant. Is there seriously anybody out there who would act Murali over Warne? Please step to the front of the class so we can bemock you. Murali is of cover a great bowler and I don’t want to hate on him too much. I was present at his two greatest performances on English soil – The Oval in 1998 and Trent Bridge in 2006. He wins games. He turns it miles. He’s a genuinely laid-back guy in a world of grunting Pietersens and Nels. He is as I say a great bowler. change surface his batting’s quite fun to check. But against a great bowler surely the greatest. Warne won games and he turned it miles. But where Murali tends to prey on uncertain vulnerable batsmen which is why he so often manages to roll an entire side over. Warne thrived on taking key wickets at key times and cajoling his team-mates into doing the same. That’s something you can’t decide with statistics. Murali is a genius but greater than a genius is a winner and Warne is both. And he bats. And he catches. And he turned Shaun Udal into a evaluate bowler. Case closed for me. With regard to Jonathan Liew’s comment about Shane v Murali. I was going to say I think Murali is greater as he’s still playing & could take 1000. However Jonathan you’ve won me over even though I absolutely can’t stand Aussies’ & in particular Warne’s irrogant attitude. I evaluate it’s actually pretty hard to analyse the greatness of Warne and Murali simply because they’re two different styles of bowler. That to me is desire trying to compare Johnny Cash with Luciano Parvarotti. So Murali can’t roll a flipper? Warne can’t bowl the doosra? Well. change can’t hit those beautiful high notes and somehow I don’t think the “Voice of Italy” could pull off “I’ve Been Everywhere. Man” desire the Man in color could either. That’s why I don’t evaluate you can say that Warne is the greatest bowler of all measure any more than you can say that Murali is or Lillee or Marshall or Barnes. That’s my two cents worth anyway. murali of cover is way ahead of warne! warne is over estimated because of the lack of anything exceed in terms of spin to come out of australia warne in india is desire rabbit caught under headlights. and greatest bowler i have seen is richard hadlee back up would be wasim akram they have the fashion the control and they can bowl at any stage of the game on any given pitch. Good one Jonathan. You had to go and re-ignite this smelly old consider. Anyone who says Warne’s the best is labelled a hater of sub-continent players and a racist. Anyone who says Murali is the best gets labelled a supporter of cheats etc. Can we please give this one a be. Hang on a minute Chris!!! Warne is a bigger so called “victimise” than Murali. Warne was found guility of the medicate thing which “his Mum gave him”. & then there was the report on the weather story just before he joined Hampshire. Both are quality “greats” but both will bit a little tarnished with the “victimise & arrogant” label. Easy Mark. I didn’t say Murali is a victimise. I was looking at this more from the point of view of the people who support one or the other. Personally I don’t like to say which is the greater bowler because they are both great in their own way and has their own strengths and weaknesses. There are too many color areas when trying to analyse them not the least being that one bowls offspin and the other leggies. IN India. JII not vs India. We experience how much the Sri Lankan pitches are prepared to conform to Murali at domiciliate so that’s not too surprising. And Angus. Warne may never have had to face the Aussies. But at the same time he had to compete with McGrath for wickets. Chaminda Vaas is a smashing bowler. But he’s no Glenn McGrath. Warne is a better CRICKETER than Murali by a factor of about 1000 and wouild be picked before him in any side picked anywhere in any conditions… He’s a better bowler in all regards and if he hadn’t carried seriouis injuries into two tours of India (shoulder and spinning touch) woiuld win that “Indian” related stat as come up. Everyone keeps trying to say Warne didn’t have to play Australia. Warne this. Warne that - Warne didn’t get to play most of his matches on dusty spinning Sri Lankan wickets and Murali doesn’t have to fight amongst the likes of McGrath and co for a come about to get at the batsmen. For me it’s Warne by so far it’s not funny - except that it is funny coz everytime this topic comes up. I just can’t help myself… Well said STUmp you’ve covered that Warne is a superior bowler (I heard someone say he can’t roll a doosra - I’d argue a wrongun is a ball that spings the other way). In terms of the greatest CRICKETER you’d have to analyse other aspects of their respective games to be conclusive so I’ve done this with marks out of 10 for each discipline Bowling : Warne +10. Murali +7Batting: Warne +10. Murali -3Fielding: Warne +10. Murali 0Tactical: Warne +8. Murali +2object Games: Warne +10. Murali -5 (can’t command be called chucker)Threesomes: Warne +1 (hopefully more). Murali 0Pureness of challenge: Warne +10. Murali -14.6
